Privacy Policy
Train & Bus Schedule is an independently operated website based in California, United States. At https://train-bus-schedule.org we provide information and tools about train and bus routes, stops, schedules and journeys. This website does not require a reader account or accept payments. Effective date: 2026-10-30. Last updated: 2026-10-30.
1. Information you provide
Search terms, stop suggestions and origin/destination selections are processed by our server. If you choose nearby stops and grant permission, your latitude and longitude are sent to the same website to find boarding stops.
Provide only the information needed for the feature. Do not enter passwords, payment details, government identification numbers or unrelated sensitive information.
Our contact form collects your message, optional reply email and relevant page. These are stored privately and shown in the operator’s private dashboard, not published or sent to analytics. A short-lived form token and temporary in-memory rate checks protect against spam; the rate-check identifiers are not stored with messages. No email is sent automatically.
2. Technical information
Our infrastructure processes your IP address, request time, requested page, request method, response status/content type and browser user agent to deliver and protect the website. Protected traffic records exclude query strings, referrers, cookies, authorization headers and form contents. Browser measurement records also use random browser, session and page-view identifiers and cumulative visible-page time. These records are pseudonymous or connection-based, not guaranteed anonymous.
3. Location information
Nearby stops uses your device’s location only after permission. Coordinates are used for the lookup and excluded from our designated traffic logs. Approximate visitor statistics can separately be inferred from IP.
4. How we use information
We use information to deliver pages and search results, provide the tools you request, investigate corrections, understand website use, troubleshoot problems and protect against abuse. Information submitted for corrections is not a public comment or a marketing subscription.
5. Cookies, browser storage and measurement
Saved stops remain in this browser’s local storage until removed or cleared. They do not synchronize between devices.
First-party measurement stores a random browser identifier and session state in local storage. Browser measurement identifiers are renewed after 60 days without a visit; sessions restart after 30 minutes of inactivity. A script sends page views and cumulative visible time to this same website about every 15 seconds while a page is visible. Hidden-tab time is excluded. Visibility is an estimate, not proof of attention.
We use Google Analytics to understand page visits and navigation. Our tag omits search-query strings, precise coordinates, form contents and contact messages from measurement. Automatic search/form/user-data collection and advertising-personalization signals are disabled. Google receives ordinary network and browser information. Its cookies and its own retention/processing are separate from our private log records.
Google Analytics cookies, where used, are configured for 60 days without a visit. Google’s processing and property-level retention are separate from the local traffic-log schedule. See Google’s information for partner sites and its Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Tracking across websites: our first-party measurement is site-specific; it is not used to build a profile across the operator’s websites. Embedded or external providers can apply their own identifiers and processing as described below.
Do Not Track: when your browser sends an enabled Do Not Track preference, our optional first-party timing and our Google Analytics tag stay off. Essential server delivery/security records still apply.
Global Privacy Control: an enabled Global Privacy Control signal also keeps our optional timing and our Google Analytics tag off. This is separate from Do Not Track. Neither preference deletes data already received by a provider.
How Google uses information from sites that use its services
6. Providers and disclosures
Hosting and network providers process connection and request information to deliver and protect this website. The operator’s private analytics service reads protected traffic and timing records through restricted access. It uses private site-specific hashes and a local IP-geography database; it does not send visitor IP addresses to an external location-lookup service.
Google Analytics receives page-use, browser and ordinary network information.
We may disclose information when required by law or reasonably needed to protect rights, website security or people’s safety. We do not use the first-party measurement described here for targeted advertising.
7. Retention
Protected traffic, page-timing and compact diagnostic records, and the private analytics event data, follow a rolling 60-day retention policy. Log records are rotated and expired daily. Relevant retained copies follow that record window. Product/reference data and submitted corrections are separate categories.
New contact messages, optional reply addresses and relevant page paths are stored separately and automatically expire after 60 days. Older correction records, where present, remain separate from traffic-log cleanup and are used to investigate and document corrections.
Saved functional preferences persist as described in section 5 until cleared or replaced. An inactivity-based identifier reset is not automatic physical deletion of every local-storage entry while your browser is closed. The privacy measurement choice is remembered for 60 days. Google and other providers apply their own processing and retention policies; our 60-day log cleanup does not erase their records. Longer retention may apply to information needed for a particular legal obligation or security investigation.
8. Your choices and questions
You choose what to enter in a search or tool. You can clear cookies and local site data through browser settings. Clearing functional data can remove saved progress. Use the measurement controls below to stop optional usage measurement in this browser without deleting your saved progress. Essential server request records remain necessary to deliver and protect the site.
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights concerning your personal information. We handle requests as required by applicable law. We may need limited information to locate a record or verify authority where permitted or required; we do not need unrelated sensitive documents. This policy does not imply that every privacy law applies to this website.
Use our contact form for questions, comments, corrections or concerns about this policy. You may provide an optional reply email. The form records your message privately and displays a reference; it does not send email automatically. Please identify the website and relevant feature, and omit unnecessary sensitive information.
9. Security
We use HTTPS for public connections and restrict access to protected records and administrative services. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Do not send sensitive information that is unnecessary for a feature or request.
10. Children
This publication is intended for a general audience and does not seek personal information from children under 13. Do not send children’s private details. If you believe a child has supplied personal information, use the contact form to identify the affected feature so we can investigate and take action required by applicable law.
11. Other websites
External links take you to independently operated websites with their own privacy practices. An embedded map or other integrated service may receive information while you remain here; those services are described in sections 5 and 6.
12. Changes to this policy
We revise the effective/update dates when this policy changes. Material changes will be identified in a notice on this privacy page, with additional notice or consent where required by applicable law. We will not treat continued browsing alone as consent to every new collection practice.
13. Contact
Use our contact form for questions, comments, corrections or concerns about this policy. You may provide an optional reply email. The form records your message privately and displays a reference; it does not send email automatically. Please identify the website and relevant feature, and omit unnecessary sensitive information.
